One of the things I love about Kink of the Week is how it makes me think about things I wouldn’t normally consider.
When I first saw the topic was love bites I screwed my nose up and declared I was no longer a teenager so what could I possibly say about the subject?!
It’s something I didn’t particularly like when I was a teenager, that’s not to say partners paid heed to my request not to be pinned down and ‘bitten’. Let’s face it, love bites aren’t bites, it’s suction that creates them.
So what’s wrong with them? Well mostly they appear on places that aren’t easy to hide, like necks and shoulders. Places other people feel the need to comment on or roll their eyes at.
Any other time I love marks, I spend as much time as possible poking and prodding anything that resembles a bruise so why am I so averse to love bites? Is it because I still relate them to my teen years? Possibly but there are things from my teen years I still love. Finger fucking, for example, few things are better than a damn good finger fucking. So what’s the difference?
As an adult, I know I now have a bit more control over them. I can make sure my partner listens to which places are and aren’t acceptable. Perhaps it’s because I’ve always felt negativity towards them. Or maybe it’s because my partner feels the same way as I do.
It’s not something I’m completely against if it’s done in the right way, it’s just not something either of us have really considered. There is so much else we enjoy, why bother with something that doesn’t feature on our radars. We’ll sink our teeth into each other’s shoulders and neck as we fuck but neither of us are suckers!
