Sinful Sunday

Bee with Rainbow coloured hair showing how proud they are

Yesterday I attended Pride in London, it was the first Pride event I’ve had the courage to attend.

Not only did I attend but I organised a small group from my workplace to be part of the procession. I want to add a huge thank you to Molly and Michael for being there with me, your support means far more than you probably realise.

I know there is quite a bit of controversy over the commercialisation of Pride and having experienced it I have very mixed feeling about that. For some workplaces this is the only chance of inclusivity yet that shouldn’t be what the march is about.

I want to put those feelings aside for the moment. Whilst yesterday was long and exhausting, I had a fabulous time. A month ago I wasn’t ‘out’ to colleagues, now I am having some wonderful conversations with the most unlikely of people. Ok, not all are so accepting and we have a long, long way to go still.

Right now I’m still buzzing from the atmosphere of yesterday, I’m proud of my achievements so far and have a renewed energy for making some more positive changes.

  2. Yay! and BTW, love the hair

  3. Amazing hair! I have taken part in Manchester pride the last 2 years – I got ordained last year- and I love, love, love the atmosphere. It’s such an amazing party.

  4. I’ve been loosely following your efforts to expand the consciousness of your workplace as you’ve mentioned some things on Twitter and I have to say, I am so incredibly proud of you for pushing and standing up for what is right and true in what seems like an often hostile environment. You are truly strong and courageous and brave and lovely.

  5. So happy you had such a fantastic day <3 It's about time you fully got to embrace being you and it's nice you have folk around that embrace you x

  6. Nice to read this, I’m happy for you, Bee. That’s quite the ‘do’.

  7. It was our absolutely honour to come and support you. I know I was the one who raised the issue of the commercial aspect and I hope that did not dampen your enjoyment of the day. It is an odd one that I need to think about more until I come to a conclusion but it was still an amazing days and you should be so proud of everything you have achieved. I know I am very proud of you

  13. My eldest went to xir first one last year. The positivity was wonderful and the good vibes and energy made a huge difference. I have issues with the erasure of asexuality from their official promotions but that doesn’t take away from the wonderful aspects that Pride brings.

  14. Good for you Bee

  15. I am really glad you has such a wonderful time and that changes are beginning to happen for you. Plus, I really love your hair xxx
