The one thing I found amazing about Iceland was the ability to use their resources, especially all their geothermal activity to heat their buildings and their homes.
Not only that but it provides some interesting sights as the landscape randomly steams away. We stopped off at one such spot and I knew I just had to get a Scavenger Hunt with either the fumeroles or the bubbling mud. However when we got there the wind speeds were absolutely ridiculous and undressing subtly wasn’t exactly easy without something flying away!
The other aspect was the smell. I knew it be sulphurous but I didn’t realise quite how overwhelming it will be. I have to admit this is the first image where I was gagging for all the wrong reasons! And breakfast was tricky for a few days, I couldn’t bear the thought of eggs for a while *laughs*.
But I couldn’t help myself, I just had to add an area of geothermal activity to my list, I just hope you enjoy it far more than I did!
