Contractual obligations

Kink of the Week

Let’s face it, our lives are full of contractual obligations. Be it mortgage or rental agreements, or employment contracts. We all have to sign away our lives at some point.

Then there are relationship contracts. Some of us chose them, through marriage or civil partnerships. I personally chose the latter which also meant I didn’t have to agree to restrictive ‘vows’ such as foresaking all others. Relationships are fluid and ever changing, agreeing to something for the rest of our lives just doesn’t sit right with me, who knows what lies ahead. Instead it means we are legally more secure should the worst happen.

The same can be said about D/s contracts. First of all, I don’t believe they are legally binding so pretty pointless, in my view. They also seem to be very one sided with the submissive signing their part of the agreement but the dominant doesn’t.

If having rules in place works for you and gives you the structure and boundaries you need, then great, you do you and I’m happy for you. My discomfort comes from the use of the term contract and the obligations and complexities that implies.
