I may not be much of a girlie girl. I’m not good with shopping, hair or make up but I just adore heels. Or at least I love looking at gorgeous heels, I’m absolutely useless at walking in them, to the point I’ve been told I ‘look like a bloke in drag’ and no I wasn’t impressed by the comment either!
I reason that I’ve got funny shaped feet because I need to have some kind of strap to keep shoes on my feet, no amount of toe scrunching seems to stop them falling off and sending me crashing to the ground inelegantly!
When I opened my Christmas present a year ago I was over the moon to find a shoebox, I bounced around my lounge excitedly saying ‘shoes’ over and over again. He looked at me, shook his head and told me to open the box. On doing so I discovered that, actually, he’d bought me theatre tickets but wanted the gift to look bigger than an envelope. Don’t get me wrong, I was so happy with the gift but it didn’t elicit a reaction quite like a shoe box did!
Roll forwards to this year, I was asked several times what I’d like for Christmas, this time round I had spotted a pair of gorgeous shoes I wanted more than anything else in the world. I asked if he could buy them for me but he wasn’t giving me any clues. Panic set in, had he bought them or had he got something else and if he hadn’t I may not get them because they’re bound to sell out! He asked me several times and I would show him the ones I wanted whilst repeating ‘shoes, shoooooooes, shoooosies’ in every possible voice until I think he took the hint and then I’d tell him some more just in case I hadn’t quite made it clear enough.
This time, when I unwrapped that gift, I made sure to open the box before squealing with delight. I think they are the most gorgeous and unusual shoes I’ve ever seen, what do you think?
