Valentine’s Day has rolled around again, where did that year go? We aren’t ones for celebrating the day in this house, for us it signifies an expensive, grand gesture once a year. That isn’t what love is about for us. We aren’t sweethearts for only one day of the year.
We prefer the smaller everyday things. The hug when one of us is having a bad day, sitting on the sofa together building Lego or playing a game. He will pick up a bunch of daffodils just to make me smile and I will bake him his favourite cake.
It’s about supporting each other through the bad days, enjoying each other through the good days and navigate our way through the days that are just plain weird!
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind
William Shakespeare
This year it’s about something more though, it’s about maintaining connections with people when we are unable to do so in person. The little gifts we send and receive to be enjoyed in ways that would’ve been unexpected a year ago.
So here I am, a gift received and sent to those physically distanced sweethearts.
