I’m not sure I completely agree with this quote. Is there really a wrong way to masturbate? It’s definitely down to personal preference. Whether it’s once a month or three times a day. Whether you edge yourself or go all the way to orgasms. What position you are in, or where abouts you are. Whether you use toys or just your hands. Or perhaps it’s not something you do at all. That’s the thing about wanking, the way each of us does it is unique to us.
Sadly masturbating carries a lot of shame, especially those of us assigned female at birth. We’re told it’s shameful and we shouldn’t touch ourselves. Clearly that’s a load of bollocks. Wanking is healthy and a great way to know and understand your own body and what you like. It sets you up for partnered sex, you can show your partner what you enjoy and more importantly, what you don’t enjoy.
So whilst this quote means well, it firstly implies that you should feel shame for doing it wrong but it also doesn’t take into account of those people who are asexual and may not be interested in wanking at all. So instead of removing shame it just piles the shame on.
