You know I love it when the news is bad
Garbage – I’m only happy when it rains
And why it feels so good to feel so sad
I’m only happy when it rains
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Actually that’s a big fat lie, I love the sun and would choose the warm sun over any other weather. It is, however, one of my favourite Garbage songs, which takes me right back to my teenage angst years and I just couldn’t resist using it!
Whilst the sun keeps me warm and rain, especially in the UK, just makes me cold and fucking miserable, there is something so sexy about it.
Sitting in either a metal cabin or a caravan, I love the sound of the rain as it hits the roof. Snuggling up close, wrapped in blankets and each other for warmth. Likewise when we’ve been out and got caught up in a downpour, peeling wet clothes off each other is just the best. Seeing him with his clothes clinging tight against him with his hair spiked up as he runs his hand through it is just something else. It’s a combination of cute and so damn hot, especially when he gives me that look.
However, what I really love is those first rain showers after a long hot spell, petrichor in the air, breathing it in. I can’t resist going for a walk if I can just to enjoy those moments. Usually it’s when I get some time alone, everyone else scurries for cover just leaving me to my thoughts. Those thoughts usually include us running naked through those showers, ending up fucking in a field, out in the open, soaking wet, getting dirty and muddy.
Is any of that a reality? Probably not, we live in the UK and whilst there’s plenty of rain, it’s far too cold to be enjoyed. Whilst the fantasy is sexy the reality is I’m not that happy when it rains.

I love the smell of petrichor and when we were in Philly and it rained in the summer it filled the air but I find we rarely get it in the UK. Like you I think I need much warmer summers to enjoy getting wet in the rain

Rain has to be mixed with (or relief from) heat for me to enjoy it. So nay to the cold wetness – I agree!
