What a week it’s been, there’s been some amazing things happen, there’s been some fun things happen and there’s been some really shitty things happen. The emotional rollercoaster has left me feeling like a wreck, both physically and mentally drained.
However, let’s take the focus off of me and explain the story behind another wreck. The old boat of Caol, also known as the Corpach Shipwreck. This old fishing boat was moored at a pier on a loch until a large storm tore the chain keeping it moored and off it floated until it came to a resting place, with the help of the local coastguard in order to keep it safely controlled, on the beach.
I’ve wanted to visit this for so long because the images are so beautiful. However, none of those photos do this justice. Being there in person and exploring the surrounding beach and landscape was breathtaking. And yes, the imposing snow capped mountain in the background is Ben Nevis.
What’s more I was super impressed how easy it was to find and get close to the wreck, I was expecting scrambling and some wet feet but nope, just along the footpath and onto the beach, hidden away until you’re right there.
My photographer got very carried away with shots of it and the landscape behind, that I had to point out the priority was a Scavenger Hunt before the middle aged ladies behind us caught us up and my arse got more ‘in the flesh’ views than I was intending!
I think this has to be one of my favourite locations for a Scavenger Hunt so far. There is something about man made decay against the stunning backdrop of nature at its best and feeling dwarfed by it all.
So whilst I’m busy feeling like wreck, please enjoy this one instead.

I’ve seen the wreck many times on visits to Fort William. Never thought for a moment that I’d see it on a Scavenger Hunt. Perhaps a challenge for me next time I am in the Fort.

The photo is utter perfection. The wreck, the mountain, the great big skies! But most of all is you, magnificent!
I do hope that the storms in your world (the shitty ones more than the amazing ones) are calming, and your moorings kept you in safe harbour.

You are the most beautiful thing in that picture even though nature and man-made things are putting up a strong challenge. All they are doing is making a fitting backdrop for the best scavenger hunter.
And, yes, I am wishing I was there to “help”.
