If you asked me the question ‘do you have a thing for necks?’ I’d probably say no without giving it much thought. But now I’m actually thinking about it, maybe I have more of a thing for them than I realised.
Do I instinctively snuggle into someone’s neck when I need comfort, yes I do.
Do I love someone doing the same to me, yes I do.
Do I like nuzzling into someone’s neck when they’re standing in front of me and covering it in kisses, yes I do.
Do I like the feel of someone’s hands on my neck as I melt into their power, yes I do.
Some of the hottest imagery out there is based on necks.
Bram StokerHis right hand gripped her by the back of the neck, forcing her face down on his bosom. Her white nightdress was smeared with blood…
Do I see violence in this quote? I probably should but I don’t. I remember this scene when I first read Dracula and instead of the fear it should instil, I felt turned on. Wanting, no, needing someone to have that power over me.
It’s definitely not the first time I’ve mentioned how much this book turned me on. Maybe it’s where I and lots of us unconsciously draw our thing for necks from.
The one thing about necks is they’re one of our most vulnerable parts of us. It’s the place that holds our spinal chord, our spine, our main blood supply, our oesophagus and our trachea. Damage to any one of those will land us in all sorts of problems. Maybe it’s letting someone else touch that vulnerable part of us that’s so intimate and sexy. How better can we say ‘I trust you with my life’ that allowing someone to touch us there.
And for many of us, we take that need for risk a step further, to push our boundaries further. Having a collar placed around our neck to show we’re ‘owned’. Even further still is those who are into breathplay who take that vulnerability right to the edge.
So ask me the question again. Do I have a thing for necks? Yeah, maybe I actually do!

I definitely have thing for necks, and I think it is definitely related to the vulnerability and trusting someone to ‘touch’ me there
