Kink of the Week

Bee wearing their purple trimmed collar

Collars are a big kink of mine. As soon as my partner asked me to wear a collar I was bursting with happiness. It was new territory for both of us so we wanted to take it one step at a time, initially I was only going to wear a collar whilst we played. When I say only, it still meant the world to me and it was a sign of where the future lay for us.

First things first, finding a collar that he liked and fit me. That turned out to be harder than we imagined, there are several we both liked the look of but most of them had metal studs or buckles that lay against my skin. I have an allergy to nickel and wearing something that would give me a nasty rash didn’t work for either of us. Finally we found a lovely black leather collar with a purple trim, my favourite colour, that kept all of its studs and buckles tucked away from my skin under a layer of leather.

Whenever he placed the collar around my neck my mind would settle into the right place, don’t get me wrong it doesn’t work like a switch, it’s the symbolism of what it means and how he could use it to keep me under control.

After about a year of having a play collar we decided the it was the right step to collar me all the time. Considering my inability to wear anything with metal it took us far longer than anticipated to find the right solution. A day collar with any kind of clasp was out of the question and we didn’t want anything too chunky because I needed to wear it at work without drawing too much attention to it.

Then inspiration hit my partner, he could make me paracord collars with a whole variety of different colours and plastic clips. Not only was it inspired it also made wearing them feel so much more special because they were created by him.

I spent a year or so wearing his collars and then I developed a problem with my shoulder, or so we thought. It turned out a shoulder injury had left me with damaged nerves in both arms. It meant that having anything around my neck that put any potential pressure on the nerves was out. I could no longer wear my beloved collars in case they antagonised the problem, it left me devastated. I will wear a collar during play for short periods of time but we keep a close eye on things just to make sure.

I have always said a collar is more meaningful to me than a wedding ring but it is a symbol of our relationship not the basis of it. For now I will be his uncollared, collared sub.

  1. I have had to stop wearing mine all the time too as I have developed a sensativity in my throat caused my a form of reflux. I can still wear them just all day every day as they tend to irritate it. As a result though we have been looking around for different replacements that has been fun

  3. I like the idea of using soft-braid material, like paracord. I’m sorry your injury makes those unfeasible.
