Being crafty

Crafty is never something I’d describe myself as. Well, I can be sneaky but I mean I’m not very good at making things. I’m awkward and clumsy which means I make mistakes easily and get frustrated with my ineptitude!

I don’t have a creative bone in my body. “But wait, you have a blog” you ask. Well every single post is hard work for me, writing isn’t something that comes naturally and I fight every step of the way.

I do live with someone that’s very creative though, it comes in very handy! He designed my blog, even down to the graphics. It also means whatever I do pales in comparison. I do love it when his creativity shines through, that doesn’t stop me grouching when what I do isn’t comparable!

As for making our own BDSM kit, well we have a few bits and bobs but strangely not as much as I’d have expected us to.

He made a beautiful spanking bench from a trestle he found in IKEA, it’s beautiful but doesn’t get used that often as it hurts my back.

He also used to make my day collars which are incredibly beautiful. Sadly, due to a shoulder and neck injury, I’m unable to wear anything that tight around my neck for any long period of time anymore. That makes me sad on so many levels.

Other than those items we don’t have anything home made in our kit. We obviously have pervertibles, those everyday household objects that provide him with hours of entertainment and me with a sore bottom. There have been wooden spoons, bread boards, mini cricket bats and even a battery operated fly swat in his arsenal.

One of my favourite pervertibles is a children’s toy my Mum bought me for a joke one Christmas, it’s a paddle with holes in it and it originally came with a rubber ball on an elastic string you had to catch in the holes to score points. Again, I was far too clumsy to succeed in doing that but it left some lovely patterns on my bottom!

Will we make more things in the future, I do hope so. It all depends on what we’d like and what other things in life are keeping us distracted.
