What is it about a hotel room? Maybe it’s the escapism, some time away from home, away from the run of the mill stresses, away from work, now home and work are the same. Maybe it’s the different surroundings, whether it be a different town, country or a four poster bed?
For me a hotel is about practicalities. If I’m away from home, I need somewhere to stay. If I’m in a hotel, then it’s because I’m away on holiday or attending an event. I’m unlikely to book a room just because. And because we’ll have been somewhere all day busy sightseeing or out at an event all day, we’ll often fall into bed knackered rather than horny. Not that I’ll sleep anyway because it’s a rarity the bed or pillows are comfortable enough to fall asleep.
At home there is comfort, you can relax in familiar surroundings. At home you have stuff to hand because you can’t always carry everything with you, you don’t need to adjust your plans because you left the lube behind. But I know I have lots of privilege, living with my partner, not everyone has that so hotels are a necessity. Even for us now we’re playing with different people, whilst we can host there will be times where we’ll use hotels instead.
Yes, hotel rooms can be pretty with new furniture to explore. And don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some fucking filthy nights in hotels with the best sex and we’ve not needed to worry about cleaning up afterwards like you would at home.
A night spent with someone is definitely about the company and not the location but if the location is fabulous too then I’m definitely not one to complain.
It’s been almost a year since I last stayed in a hotel. Whilst we’re away last weekend, unfortunately we were glamping, not that there was anything glam about that. But there is a night in the not so distant future for me. A night in a fabulous room but I am more looking forward to the fantastic, filthy, fun-filled company.
